Antonios Angelakis is Assistant Professor at the Department of Political Science of the University of Crete. He holds a Ph.D. in Technology and Innovation Policies (University of Crete), while his interests span innovation and technology policies, innovation systems, innovation sciences, technology transfer and innovation management, digital transformation and digital policies, industrial policies and economic development. He also holds a BA in Political Science (University of Crete) and an M.A. in Public Administration and Public Policy (University of York, UK). He worked as a post-doc Research Associate at the Nottingham Business School (NBS), UK. He worked also as a Research Associate (2013-2024) at The Small Enterprises’ Institute of the Hellenic Confederation of Professionals, Craftsmen and Merchants (IME GSEVEE) with a major focus on innovation, technology and digital policies, technological and digital transformation, and financial instruments for SMEs. He has an extensive professional experience as a technology transfer officer in several Universities (e.g. University of Crete, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens). Additionally, he has research and working experience on innovation-related topics through his active participation (as researcher and technical expert) in numerous EU-funded and national technology and innovation projects. He has also academic teaching experience on technology, innovation and digital policies as well as innovation management and he had taught, as adjunct lecturer, in several Universities (e.g. University of Crete, Technical University of Crete, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Hellenic Mediterranean University). He serves as a member (since 2017) of the Attica Region Research and Innovation Council (PSEK) and as a member of the high-level expert group ‘Fit for Future Platform’ (F4F) of the European Commission. His publications include several chapters in edited volumes, international conferences proceedings and papers in international peer reviewed journals.
